Introduction
This page intends to present interactive guidelines to help newcomers take their first steps at the CMS Safety Office. Their aim is to give newcomers the chance to get familiar with the environment and to get the minimum information on the needed actions to be undertaken for the start of their activities within the CMS Safety Office. All the aspects reported on this page must be taken alongside the steps foreseen by the Human Resources Department of CERN. More information can be found at the link here (“Joining CERN” section).
First Steps
For your arrival at CERN, contact your supervisor in order to:
-
Have a meeting with him/her;
-
Prepare your office;
-
Get familiar with the environment and premises.
Accounts
Activate your Computing account as soon as possible.
Once it’s done, you can create your EDMS account by logging in to EDMS with your Computing account.
Trainings
There are different courses to be taken in order to be able to know the rules of CERN and CMS, to know how to behave, to get access to different premises, etc. The following are the mandatory courses that should be taken by everyone:
- Radiation Protection - Awareness / Radioprotection and Sensibilisation
All courses are available on the CERN Learning Hub
Additional information can be found on the Training and Access Requirements page.
In order to get familiar with CMS areas, request a CMS visit through: cms.visit@cern.ch. Contact your supervisor in case of further training needs.
