Specialized Safety Officers (SSO) and Safety Related Personnel
The SSO shall support the Department Head, via the Departmental Safety Officer (DSO), or, as the case may be, the Technical Coordinator, via the Large Experiment Group Leader in Matters of Safety (LEXGLIMOS), in fulfilling their obligations in matters of Safety in the SSO’s particular field of expertise (cryogenics, gazes, laser, etc.).

The TSO shall support his Department Head, via the Departmental Safety Officer (DSO), or as the case may be the Technical Coordinator, via the Large Experiment Group Leader in Matters of Safety (LEXGLIMOS), in fulfilling their obligations in matters of Safety for buildings and premises under the responsibility of the Department or the Large Experiment and for which he is appointed.

The LR shall support the Territorial Safety Officer (TSO), the Departmental Safety Officer (DSO) or the Large Experiment Group Leader in Matters of Safety (LEXGLIMOS), as the case may be, in fulfilling their obligations for Locations situated in buildings and premises under the responsibility of the TSO, or of the DSO/LEXGLIMOS and for which the LR is appointed.

The WS shall support his Group Leader in fulfilling his obligations in matters of Safety concerning the workshops under the responsibility of the Group and which the WS is appointed to supervise. The WS shall, in particular, take the necessary measures to ensure that all work equipment used in the workshop under his supervision is suitable for the work to be carried out and for use by operators without any impairment of their health and safety.

The CSO shall support the Department Heads via the Departmental Safety Officers (DSO), or as the case may be the Technical Coordinators of a Large Experiment, via the LEXGLIMOS, in fulfilling their obligations in matters of Cryogenic Safety

The FGSO shall support the Department Head, via the Departmental Safety Officer (DSO), or as the case may be the Technical Coordinator of a Large Experiment, via the LEXGLIMOS, in fulfilling their obligations in matters of Flammable gas Safety.
David Bailleux
The LSO shall support the Department Head, via the Departmental Safety Officer (DSO), or, as the case may be, the Technical Coordinator, via the Large Experiment Group Leader in Matters of Safety (LEXGLIMOS), in fulfilling their obligations in matters of Safety in the SSO’s particular field of expertise (Laser).
Zoltan Szillasi
The VSO covers all of the officially registered CMS visits at Point 5 except for VIP, Media and professional visits. His powers are delegated to him by the LEXGLIMOS and the Technical Coordination team. Main tasks are: to update the CMS Visit Safety file, to adapt and modify the visit itinerary according to activities taking place, changes to the infrastructure and feedback, to organise training and retraining of CMS guides, to analyse and follow up incidents and accidents and to define preventive and corrective measures

The ESO shall support the Department Head, via the Departmental Safety Officer (DSO), or, as the case may be, the Technical Coordinator, via the Large Experiment Group Leader in Matters of Safety (LEXGLIMOS), in fulfilling their obligations in matters of Safety in the SSO’s particular field of expertise (Electrical).

The SLP shall support his Group Leader or Systems Managers in fulfilling his obligations in matters of Safety.

The safety correspondent acts as a contact person for CERN and the institution in all matters of safety involving the institution’s personnel at CERN. The team leader may act as safety correspondent. The Institute may appoint more than one safety correspondent.
According to different DLAs
The LSSO shall be responsible for ensuring Laser Safety, including compliance with the relevant Safety Rules, within the Designated Laser Area (DLA) assigned to him/her, including the Safety of Lasers and related activities therein.

Baseline level (LSA – Life Saving Actions). Intervening within 3 minutes in case of a medical emergency to give alert and provide basic life support.

The aim of the Safety tour is to check the P5, CMS area, and identify any problem which
has to be reported (e-log, phone).

The patrol of the UXC55 sector shall guarantee the absence of people inside the UXC55 sector until the patrol procedure has finished. The patrol procedure has finished at the moment when the LASS system has taken over the surveillance of the access points. The goal of the patrol is not to evacuate people, but to verify their absence.

Coordinates the planning and logistics of visits to CMS, working with the VSO on request assessment.

The SLIMOS supports the LEXGLIMOS in fulfilling their obligations in matters of Safety during shift work carried out within the Large Experiment concerned. They shall keep the LEXGLIMOS informed on any issues regarding Safety during his shift work

The general task of the central technical shifter (TS) is to make sure that CMS is ready for data-taking by monitoring the Central DCS, the services, alarms from DSS, communicating with the subdetector’s experts/Detectors on Call (DOC’s), and cross check the status of the subdetectors with the Automatization Matrix and change if is necessary.
