external pro visitors standard procedure
External professional visitors standard procedure
- Create and fill an IMPACT activity of the type: “professional visit”
- Choose the precise locations (level…) of your visit. If you are too general, it may include a controlled area, which will require RP approval.
- Enter all your visitors in the “Who?” section.
- Once you have selected “professional visitor”, use the Pre-Registration Tool (PRT) for each external visitor which isn’t already in the database (save first)
- Select “Grant extraordinary access & token“
- Submit the activity, which will be signed by the facility coordinator and Visits Safety Officer (VSO). If you need to edit the list of people in IMPACT after it is submitted, ask the VSO.
- Once the IMPACT is approved, the visitors have to pass by the registration service (building 55, Meyrin) to get a CERN paper access card and pick up their access token
- The visitors can then enter normally the access points selected in IMPACT with their personal dosimeter/token without requiring action from the CMS technical shifter. The escort should of course remain with his/her group at all times.
- Use regular white helmets. 30 are available on demand, ask the technical shifter in the CMS control room.
- If you need to go to an RP area, wear an operational dosimeter (escort only), and link it to your IMPACT activity.
